Wassenaar-based filmmaker screens internationally travelling film at Beers & Bites

Cultuur

Beers & Bites, at Langstraat 105, will screen A Cow’s Tale on Sunday 12 July at 4.00pm. Wassenaar-based director Weliam Sejari will be present afterwards for questions and discussion with the audience.

What makes the screening especially notable is that this zero-budget production, made by an international group of creatives, can now be seen in Wassenaar while continuing its journey through film festivals at home and abroad. A Cow’s Tale premiered at the FEATS Festival in The Hague, received a special screening at the Rotterdam Arab Film Festival, and was officially selected for the Independent Shorts Awards Film Festival in Los Angeles.
The film tells the story of a man and a woman without spoken dialogue. Images, music and expression carry the narrative, leaving viewers free to form their own interpretation.

Sejari is a young Syrian filmmaker, actor and writer who has lived in Wassenaar since 2023. He studied Theatre and Cinema Studies at Utrecht University and HKU, and has worked in theatre, television and film as an actor, writer and director.

More than twelve nationalities were represented in the making of A Cow’s Tale, including residents of the AZC in Wassenaar. The film was created in collaboration with organisations and creative partners including AATG, FilmShade, Acme Studio and Matrix Audio.
