5th Piet Wezepoel Jazz Festival May 21st Voorschoten

After a gap of two years, the Piet Wezepoel Jazz Festival will be held again in het Cultureel Centrum in Voorschoten on Saturday May 21st. It will be the fifth one to be organised by PJPJ (Stichting Jong Professionals Jazz). Multiple Edison award winner singer Denise Jannah is the main attraction. She was the first Dutch artist to obtain a record contract with the American label ‘Blue Note’. She has performed all over the world with bands such as the Rosenberg trio, the Carnegie Hall jazz band, the Willem Breuker Kollektief and het Meropole Orkest and she has appeared seven times at the North Sea Festival. The festival kicks off at 17.00 hrs with a demonstation of youthful musical talent by 8 to 18 year olds, all under the tutelage of the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague. Niels Tausk, Marc van Rooij, Robert Koemans and Sebastiaan van Bavel will oversee these performances.
Later on various other acts will be featured, spread across the three auditoria in het Cultureel Centrum, including Duckpin Bowling Alley (the Kegel brothers), the Veronica Cimino Quartet. the Aseo Quartet, the Tristan Guillaume Group and the Lidija Strika Quartet. Denise Jannah and her band will close the festival, which will end around 23.30 hrs. The Cultureel Centrum is located at Prinses Marijkelaan 4 close to the centre of Voorschoten. It is easily accessible by pubic transport and there is free parking. The cost of a ticket is only 12,50 euros for adults and 5 euros for minors 12-18 years and students.
